Lie of the Month

The physical is inherently inferior to the spiritual.

The Creating Consciousness expresses itself in a myriad of ways; the physical universe being one of them. Planes of existence vary in function and structure, but each is a part of God and no part of God is finer or denser, or better or worse, or higher or lower than any other part of God. To doubt that is to judge God; a risky action at best.

The material world is simply one of the latest expressions of the Great Spirit — the newest resort in which spirits can play! Therefore, life in our physical bodies is to be appreciated, explored, enjoyed, and revered as much as life in any heaven.

Note that this does not mean “anything goes.” . . . . [read more]

Worth Repeating This Month
"Unfortunately, the idea of a tangible satanic force that must be battled out in the world is familiar to tens of millions of fundamentalist and evangelical Christians. At various times, the group said to embody this Evil has been identified as pagans, Jews, Muslims, Catholics, Mormons, and communists. These days they’re homosexuals, liberals, and pornographers." — Dr. Marty Klein
“Everyone will live after what you call death, not because of believing in a creed, a doctrine or a dogma, but because it is an unalterable natural law. It has nothing to do with religion. It is a law equal to the law of cause and effect." — Silver Birch

This Month's Recommended Reading
These items are recommended as sources of valuable information and insights. We believe them to be largely accurate and useful. Thy do not, however, necessarily represent the offical position or worldview of Rational Spiritism.
Book CoverPleasure — Alexander Lowen
Lowen shows how the experience of pleasure or pain determines our emotions, thinking, and behavior. Examining the psychology and the biology of pleasure, he explores its roots in the nature of the body and shows that emotional health means that we are in a state of pleasure – that is, we feel good in our bodies. Lowen describes pleasure as the creative force in life and as the only force strong enough to oppose the potential destructiveness of power.

Book CoverSpirit Teachings: Through the Mediumship of William Stainton Moses
An Anglican priest, Moses initially was antagonistic toward spirit communication, but in 1872, he attended a séance for the first time and five months later became aware he had psychic abilities which eventually manifested as automatic writing. Moses found his Christian dogma constantly challenged by what came through his hand. During one sitting, his guide explained, “Friend, you must discriminate between God’s truths and man’s glosses”

Book CoverSchrödinger's Cat Trilogy — Robert Anton Wilson
Here's a dose of satire and insight uncommon enough to stimulate your puzzler for quite a while. Wilson was a futurist, author (of 35 books), lecturer, stand-up comic, guerrilla ontologist, psychedelic magician, outer head of the Illuminati, quantum psychologist, Taoist sage, Discordian Pope, and Struthian politician . . . maybe.
